Reed Beetle  Donacia simplex - a Leaf Beetle, Chrysomelidae

Reed Beetles are very attractive metallic coloured beetles. They live close to water and are associated with emergent plants. Donacia simplex is one of the commonest of the Reed Beetles. It will probably occur alongside many water bodies in Shropshire, but records for the county are sparse. Photo: Redhill near Hookagate, June 2005.
